This is still very much in the planning stages however....2010 is the 10th anniversary of the Copa Cabana. We already have 16 extremely high quality pitches booked at the Grove Farm site and have plans for both an Elite (Champagne) division and a Standard (Open) division.
This site was part of a bid for WUCC 2010. Free camping has moved to a new location at the home of the Nottingham Casuals Rugby Club along with the show pitch for end of day games and finals. Parties will be onsite in a single massive Copa Cabana Party Tent resembling something more like the Paganello big top. This one is going to be HUGE when it all comes together.
Starting with a welcome party on the 27th with games running from Saturday the 28th until Monday the 30th, it's 3 days of good Ultimate and 3 nights of the sleepless good times that the Copa has grown it's reputation for.
Travel in from Europe or the UK is convenient with the East Midland Airport a short bus or taxi ride away from Copa Cabana HQ and with the Beeston train station a 10 min walk away.

The makers of the Copa Cabana tournament in Nottingham are pleased to
bring you an exciting new BEACH event in the UK on the weekend of June
5th and 6th.
This event will welcome 40 teams to the sun and sand on a privately
owned beach on the east coast of Britain. All of the things you've
come to expect from great beach event will be there and more. Beach front
camping next to the games, a bar right next to the pitch serving
round-the-clock liquids and of course the on-stage entertain will be amped
and ready to rock.

We're testing out the new registration system available via the ffindr here
http://ffindr.com/en/event/copa-del-soul. It's actually filling up rather
quickly however entries will be based on payment and international (non-British)
teams do get a priority.
Registration is open now and closes at the end of February. We might close it
sooner if it goes way over capacity.

Somewhat earlier than most years yet already something like 8 months in the making, the 10th Anniversary Copa Cabana in Nottingham UK is finally open for registration! (http://ffindr.com/en/event/copa-cabana-2010)
The yearly festival of loose mixed grass Ultimate that rounds off the competitive year with a nice chilled out 72 hour party is back with a vengeance!

Some via my constant rantings about the difficulties of trying to set this 10th anniversary edition Copa....
...those lucky few will know how it has travelled from the Grove Farm pitches in Nottingham where our new Rugby club got cold feet and bailed out...to the beaches where Copa del Soul will be...where it turned out that hiring toilets on a bank holiday weekend at that beach requires a much more significant financial outlay than one would expect... and now the Copa is back home again....
So...in a giant lesson that says, if it ain't broke don't fix it, the Copa is back at our trustworthy venue, The Nottingham Moderns Rugby Club and the adjacent fields known as The Meadows.
This year plans to be different and basically bigger and better than before.
Differences are...two divisions. An Elite (loose) Mixed (aka Champagne)...hoping to bring in some bigger and better competition (already got the xEUCF winners Brighton registered). An the Open (loose) Mixed (aka Beer) for the rest of us to muck about in. Another difference....Bigger Copa Tent!! See details below....
- Those who know the Copa also know that it's traditionally been what we called 'loose mixed'. That means we're prefer mixed teams over competitive open teams and insist only on one woman as the minimum on the line to allow more teams to attend. The ffindr site didn't allow for the creation of an Elite Mixed division but only Elite Open and Open. It is still a loose mixed event. So find some loose men and some loose women and bring them along for the party.
This year the cost will be: €100 team fee + a €30 player fee.

3 nights of Party til stupid'O'clock. NEWS!: We're weather proofing this year. Instead of a Copa party tent AND a separate stage with live music and fun. We'll be having a Copa Tent with the Copa Stage INSIDE!!! That's the biggest change actually. A huge big top with all festivities inside it. That leads us to the next item...

Camping. On-site for free.
Player Gift! "What will it be?" Quite a few cool things on the cards, trust us that you'll like it and probably won't already have one.
Breakfast. This year will be better than in the past. You'll be able to get a big continental breakfast and also assemble a lunch from the breakfast brown bag and take away.
We're always planning. It always depends on the budget and what we can do to make sure we spend it all on stuff you'll love to make this event memorable and keep you coming back for more and more!
Theme this year...too be announced...we've thought...Rio and Carnival...we've thought...Reggae Reggae...plenty of time to decide. Ideas appreciated as it'll affect the player gift.
